Holidays!!

Well it's finally arrived!! The school holidays have started and we are all heading to Perth today. Isobel is competing tomorrow in gymnastics State finals, she is a bit nervous as you can imagine. Then on Tuesday Matt and I fly to Melbourne for a weeks' holiday. The kids are having a holiday with Nana and Grandad which they are really excited about (or maybe its the no parents thing)!! We will all be back home again on the 7th October.

So I wont be checking my emails very often, but if it is urgent you can call me on my mobile. So enjoy your school holidays everyone, coz I know I will!!

Pink Ribbon Stamp-a-thon

October is Pink Ribbon month to raise awareness of and money for breast cancer research. Those who know me well will realise how important this charity is to me. Fourteen years ago I lost my Mother to this awful disease. She was only 56 years old. Mum died before I met my husband, before mine and my sister's children born. That's 5 children who will never know what a special person Nana Margaret was.

So for my Mum and all the other ladies who have suffered, or know someone who has suffered from this disease, Debbie Robinson and myself are having a Stam-a-thon to help do our part to raise money for breast cancer research. You will get to make all 6 gorgeous projects shown above and have the chance to win stacks of Stampin' Up! prize packs.

When: Sunday18th October 2009, 1 - 5pm
Where: Girl guide hall, Parker St Lockyer
Cost: $50, includes everything you need to make the projects, door prize entry, afternoon tea and SU! Spring mini catalogue ($25 deposit required by 10th October)

So email me, leave a comment with this post or call me to book your place. Tickets are limited so get in early!!

Pop-up Rose Card

Every couple of weeks I get together with my friends Kathryn and Fiona for a day of stamping. Usually one of us has a new technique or tool to show the others. This time around Kathryn showed us 2 new techniques. The first was using the brayer and creating a sunrise/sunset background. I think I need a bit more practice before showing any cards I make using the brayer!

The second card is this pop-up card. The little tag at the top folds in when the card is folded flat to fit into a standard size envelope. This particular card will be going to my secret sister from SCS. I stamped the large flower from the 5th Ave floral set onto vellum with white ink and then white embossed it. It is then backed with riding hood red cardstock, held together with a pink rhinestone brad, and cut out.

Stamp Set: Fifth Ave Floral and Botanical Blooms (SAB 2009), Perfectly pretty wheel Cardstock: Close to Cocoa, kiwi kiss, riding hood red, whisper white, vellum
Ink: Riding hood red, whisper white craft
Accessories: Bella rise DSP, white embossing powder, riding hood red taffeta ribbon, 1" and 1.5" circle punches and scallop border punch.
