Gorgeous Blogger Award

Too say I was surprised to receive this award would have to be an understatement! But also happy and pleased. Kris is one of the design team members for the new challenge blog Sunny Challenges which I have been joining in over the last few weeks.

On receipt of this award I have a few things to do.
1. Thank the person who gave me the award and link to their blog. So thank you Kris for thinking of me and your kind words.
2. Post the award on my blog, and
3. Pass it on!
So here are some of my favourite blogs I am always checking out:

Sharlene Meyer NZ Stampin' Up! demo
Paula Dobson who does the most amazing things with a sponge and a brayer
Leonie Schroder who as the co-ordinator of ESAD inspires so many other demos.

So make sure you take a look at their blogs and check out their fabulous creations!

One for the Boys

I have combined two challenges for this card. The sketch from Stamping 411 and the colours from Sunny challenges. I love this set and the matching dsp, makes it so easy to create a card for men, something we all seem to struggle to do. I didn't have any brads to match, so made my own!

Project Recipe
Stamp: The Open sea
Card: Bashful blue, not quite navy, basic grey and very vanilla
Ink: Basic grey and not quite navy
Accessories: Nautical expedition dsp, twill tape, 1/4" circle punch and crystal effects (to make faux brads)

Faux Silk Technique

Creating a faux silk background for this card was so much easier than I thought it would be. The ladies at Sunny challenges have made this technique part of their challenge this week. There is a link on their blog post to an easy to follow tutorial on splitcoast stampers. When I first saw the effect it gives I thought it would be perfect for a soft, girly vintage card for my daughter's 12th birthday. But Isobel is not the vintage type, nor even particularly girly so I wasn't sure how this would work on a more modern looking card. But I did get to use the sparkly glimmer brads I have been hoarding!

Project Recipe
Stamps: Extreme elements, Grunge rock and Perfect punches
Card: Calypso coral, pear pizzaz, soft suede, whisper white and white tissue paper
Ink: Soft suede, pear pizzaz, poppy parade, lucky limeade and calypso coral
Accessories: In colour glimmer brads, pear pizzaz seam binding ribbon, wide oval punch and Lots of tags sizzlets.

Sale A Bration Paper

Stamping 411 have come up with another great sketch, which is perfect for showing off the new Sale A Bration designer paper. I have only just got these papers and they are gorgeous, matching beautifully with the in colours. Next on my wish list is the ribbon and brad pack that goes with them!

Baby Card

It isn't often I make a baby card and I don't have any dedicated nursery stamp sets so to create a baby card is a challenge in itself for me. The sketch has come from Stamping 411 Saturday sketch challenge. I don't have any bashful blue dsp so I made my own using Spice paisley stamp from the Summer mini.
Project Recipe
Stamps: Spiced paisley and Give a gift
Ink: Bashful blue, wild wasabi and marina mist
Card: Bashful blue, wild wasabi and whisper white
Accessories: Bashful blue grosgrain ribbon, polka dot embossing folder, 1 3/4" circle punch, large scallop circle punch

Ray of Sunshine

I just received a lovely email from the ladies at Sunny challenges to say that my card has been picked as this week's Ray of Sunshine. I know their email was a Ray of sunshine for me on what has previously turning out to be a very bad day! Thank you to Vicky and everyone else for choosing me card!

Home Again

It is good to be home after 2 weeks away for work. It was certainly hard being away from Matt and the kids for such a long time. It has also meant no crafting for a while, which wasn't easy either. This card is for the Sunny Challenge. It was both a sketch and colour challenge.
Project recipe
Stamps: Just Believe, Four frames and Field Flowers
Card: Pink pirouette, early espresso and sahara sand
Ink: Early espresso (stamped off once for the image on the right), pink pirouette and sahara sand on the edges
Accessories: Beau chateau dsp, beautiful wings embosslit and modern label punch
