The ladies at Sunny challenges want a male card this week. I always struggle with these, it seems most people do. I find it difficult to strike that balance between interesting without being over embellished and blingy. I have used a technique called emboss resist to create my background. I think the flash from the camera has bounced off the clear embossing as the card looks a lot darker in real life. I am going to keep this one for my husband Matt for Father's day as the sentiment is one I feel each and every day.

Project Recipe
Satmps: Fine feathers and Chalk talk
Card: pacific point, wild wasabi and whisper white
Ink: pacific point, marina mist, wild wasabi and versamark
Accessories: clear embossing powder, marina mist grosgrain ribbon, white bakers twine and large oval punch, white feathers

Hexagons are on trend in the paper craft world right now, so this sketch from Just Add Ink gave me the perfect opportunity to ink up my newest stamp set and matching hexagon punch. One thing I did realise when making this card is that I haven't got any current designer paper, so I made my own using markers and the air spritzer (which unfortunately is no longer available).

Project Recipe
Stamps: Six sided sampler and Itty bitty banners
Card: melon mambo, daffodil delight and whisper white
Ink: melon mambo, pear pizzaz, daffodil delight and island indigo
Accessories: gingham garden designer washi tape, melon mambo button, itty bitty framelits and hexagon punch

By the Sea

My first thought on seeing this colour combination from Just Add Ink was of the beach. Maybe because we live in a seaside town or because of the ink name coastal cabana. Either way I instantly reached for the By the seashore stamp set.

Project Recipe
Stamps: By the Seashore and Itty Bitty Banners
Card: Baked brown sugar, coastal cabana and very vanilla
Ink: Baked brown sugar and coastal cabana
Accessories: Stripes embossing folder (inked and then sandwich card, but not through the bigshot), itty bitty framelits and white bakers twine (squashed in the coastal cabana inkpad) and naturals designer buttons.

Christmas in July

THe challenge this week at Sunny Challenges is to create a Christmas card using their sketch. Extra challenge for me is that I own no current Christmas sets and won't do until the holiday catalogue in September.

Project Recipe
Stamp: Petite pairs
Card: Silver metallic, gumball green, cherry cobbler and whisper white
Ink: cherry cobbler
Accessories: Secret garden sizzlits, oval and scallop oval punch, cherry cobbler seam binding ribbon.
