GDP #065 Colour Challenge

Gift tags are a great way of using up scraps of ribbon and papers. I also keep them simple, especially those for the kids presents. They barely even look at the tag, except to check their name!!

This week at Global Design project there is a colour challenge, just right for Christmas.

Make sure you head over and see all the great ideas.

Project Recipe
Stamps: Time of year, Swirly Bird
Ink: real red, crumb cake and early espresso
Card: real red, early espresso, crumb cake and whisper white

Just Add Project Life

I love Project Life.  It makes scrapbooking memories so much quicker and easier, but you can still add your own personal touches. This week at Just Add Ink we were challenged to use project life products. Normally I don't show photos of my kids and extended family on my blog, no idea why as there are plenty of photos of them all over social media.

These photos were taken before digital cameras were everywhere. I am sure some of you remember the wait to get film processed to find out if your photos any good! I have hundreds of photos like this of my kids when they were small, all in shoeboxes and I have decided that Project Life is the way to go to get them into albums, no matter what the quality of photos!!

GDP #050 Sketch

It is sketch time at Global Design Project for this week's challenge. I have kept pretty much to the sketch for this card. Make sure you head over there to see the design team's work as well as all the other entrants. Lots of inspiration for everyone.

The 'For You' sentiment is one of my favourites. It gives you a greeting on a card without defining what the card has to be. I can now use this for a birthday, mother's day, or even just a thinking about you card. The card will now stay in my stash until I am ready to use it. I will then put another sentiment on the inside to define the card.

Project Recipe
Stamps: Birthday Blooms and Thoughtful branches
Card: Peekaboo peach, basic black and whisper white
Ink: black memento, peekaboo peach and pear pizzazz
Accessories: 1 3/8 in and 1 1/2 in circle punches, gold bakers twine, wink of stella gold and air spritzer tool

Yesterday I received a big box of new goodies to play with, but sometimes old favourite stamps work best. That certainly is the case here where the new, old and retired stuff all work so well together. A great example of how well Stampin' Up! co-ordinate their products.

Here is this week's sketch:

Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge

Some things I learnt when heat embossing on vellum:

1. the effect is beautiful and so easy to colour, but
2. the vellum warps a bit with the heat making it difficult to cut straight.

That is why I had to have three tries at making this card for the Just Add Ink sketch challenge!

Project Recipe
Stamps: Helping me grow and butterfly basics
Card: crumb cake, cherry cobbler, old olive and vellum cardstock
Ink: Versamark, cherry cobbler and old olive
Accessories: gold brads, gold embossing powder and cherry cobbler seam binding ribbon

#GDP 029 Colour Challenge

The designers at Global Design Project  have come up with an unusual colour combo this week. As always with a colour challenge, my usual starting point is to pick a DSP that matches the colours. In this case I had none. And while bermuda bay and early espresso are a couple of my faves, I can't even remember using tangelo twist at all. So how was I suppose to put them all together?

With water!! A bermuda bay wash for the background colour and a sprtiz of water over the stamping!

Project Recipe
Stamps: Kinda eclectic and flowering fields
Card: tangelo twist, early espresso and watercolour paper
Ink: bermuda bay, tangelo twist and early espresso
Accessories: water spritzer, butterfly punch, self adhesive pearls and wink of stella gold brush

#GDP 027 Thank you

A thank you card is the theme for this week's Global Design Project challenge. I have kept it simple with a few touches of bling. Unfortunately, the wink of stella clear doesn't photograph well but I have used it on the small flowers to give a lovely glitter shine over the pink cardstock.

Project Recipe
Stamps: Circle of Spring
Card: blushing bride, mint macaroon and whisper white
Ink: versamark, black memento, melon mambo, mint macaroon and blushing bride
Accessories: Wondrous wreath framelit, white embossing powder, wink of stella clear, honeycomb embossing folder, self adhesive pearls and white cotton twine

JAI 302 Colour Challenge

This week's challenge at Just Add Ink is to use the colours blackberry bliss, rich razzleberry and tip top taupe.  Beautiful colours, but difficult to get the balance right without making the card appear dark.  I have used the same embossing folder on both circles, just used one side debossed and the other embossed.

Project Recipe
Stamps: Timeless textures and wetlands (sentiment)
Card: tip top taupe, rich razzleberry, blackberry bliss and very vanilla
Ink: blackberry bliss, rich razleberry and tip top taupe
Accesssories: 2.5" circle punch, lacy brocade embossing folder (retired) and tip top taupe lace ribbon

#GDP022 Sketch Challenge

This week's sketch at Global Design Project is just fabulous for all sorts of cards. I have gone for the clean look in this thank you card. I love the black and white patterns in the Go Wild paper stack which are suitable for any occasion.

Just Add a 'V'

This week at Just Add Ink we are asked to add a 'V' to our project. I have already made hubby's Valentine card so I decided to make tags for these chocolate hearts, one for each of my kids. All very sparkly. The chocolates are on sticks which I threaded down between the dsp and the backing cardstock.

Card: Real Red, gold metallic and basic black
Accessories: gold sequin ribbon, gold bakers twine, Go wild dsp, gold glitter spray, metallic sequins, red and gold glitter paper, crystal effects and dazzling diamonds glitter.

#GDP021 Colour Challenge

This week is a colour challenge set by Brian King at Global Design Project and it is a difficult combination.

I really had no idea which colour amount would work best. More melon and less wisteria or the other way around and what about the blue? So I made three cards using the different colours. I also had no DSP to match these colours, so I had to make that too.

Project Recipe
Stamps: You've got this, gorgeous grunge (background) and watercolour wings (sentiment)
Ink: Black memento, wisteria wonder, melon mambo and bermuda bay
Card: melon mambo, wisteria wonder, bermuda bay and whisper white
Accessories: 21/2 inch circle punch, self adhesive rhinestones and a retired punch I can't remember the name of!

Card: Whisper white, blushing bride and old olive
Ink: old olive and blushing bride
Accessories: English garden DSP, self adhesive rhinestones

#GDP020 Picture Perfect

I finally got a chance to play with my new stamps from the new mini catalogue! Between extra shifts at work and the kids on school holidays, finding a couple of hours quiet time to sit at my craft desk has not been easy. As most were out this morning, it was a good chance for me to do the Global Design Project challenge for this week which is to CASE one of the designers Connie Collins. This is the card for inspiration if you would like to join in.

Project Recipe
Stamps: Picture Perfect, Timeless Texture (both new) and Perfect Pennants
Card: Blushing bride, old olive and whisper white
Ink: blushing bride, old olive and watermelon wonder
Accessories: Birthday Bouquet DSP (new) white baker's twine, self adhesive rhinestone and oval framelits
